Acceptable Use Policy

What This Policy Covers

Clipwright turns a script you supply into a video of a person saying it. That is a tool for making someone appear to speak words they never spoke, and the rules below exist because of it. This policy applies to everything you send us — scripts, images, voice selections — and to everything we return.

It is part of the Terms of Service. Breaking it is a breach of those Terms, and the consequences are set out in How We Enforce This Policy.

You are responsible for what you generate. We do not review scripts before they are rendered, and nothing in this policy should be read as a promise that we do.

Real People and Their Likeness

Do not generate a video that depicts a real, identifiable person without that person's consent. This applies whether you reach the likeness by uploading a photograph, by selecting a stock presenter who resembles someone, or by writing a script that puts words in a named person's mouth.

Specifically prohibited, and not an exhaustive list:

• Public figures, politicians and celebrities presented as endorsing, saying or doing anything they did not
• Private individuals, including colleagues, former partners and people known to you, depicted without their agreement
• Anyone depicted in a sexual, degrading or violent context — consent to appear in a video is not consent to appear in any video
• Deceased people, where the depiction would mislead viewers about what they said or believed

Consent means the person agreed to this use, knowingly and in advance. A photograph you are legally allowed to possess is not consent. A public social media profile is not consent.

The same rule governs a personal actor you create from a description. A personal actor is generated from the words you write, and those words may not describe a real, identifiable person — not by name, and not by a description that fits one person and no one else. You may describe yourself. You may describe someone who has given you consent in the sense above. Everyone else is prohibited, and a public figure is prohibited whether or not you name them.

We screen every description before an actor is generated. A description that names a public figure, or asks for the likeness of one, is refused: nothing is generated and nothing is charged. The refusal is recorded against your account, and an account that collects refusals is held back for a while. How many and for how long is set in our code, not on this page, because we adjust it. The screen is a filter, not a judgement about consent — passing it is not our agreement that you hold the rights you claim.

Images You Upload

You may upload an image only if you hold the rights to use it this way. That means one of the following is true: you took the photograph and the person in it agreed to this use; you licensed it for this use; or it depicts no identifiable person at all.

Stock photography licences usually do not cover this. Most of them exclude synthetic media, endorsement and depictions that suggest the model said something. Read the licence before you rely on it.

We do not verify rights, and we cannot. Uploading an image is your statement that you hold them.

Deception We Do Not Allow

Three kinds of false statement cause harm quickly and are prohibited outright, whether or not the speaker in the video is real:

• Medical. Claims about treatments, diagnoses, medicines, supplements or health outcomes presented as fact or as professional advice. A generated presenter in a white coat is a fabricated authority, and viewers read it as one
• Political. False statements about candidates, parties, referendums, voting procedure, eligibility or election dates; content that impersonates an official body or an election authority
• Financial. Investment advice, guaranteed returns, fabricated testimonials about earnings, and anything that presents a generated speaker as a licensed adviser, a bank, or an existing financial institution

The prohibition covers presentation as much as content: a truthful statement delivered by a fabricated doctor is still a fabricated doctor.

Other Prohibited Uses

• Content sexualising minors, or depicting any minor in a manner a reasonable person would find exploitative — this is reported to authorities, not merely refused
• Harassment, threats, incitement to violence, or content targeting a person or group on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability
• Impersonating a brand, company or institution you do not represent, including customer-support and recruitment scenarios
• Fraud in any form: fake giveaways, romance scams, invoice fraud, and recorded “verification” intended to defeat identity checks
• Circumventing our limits — sharing API keys outside your organisation, running the Service through undisclosed resale, or automating account creation
• Any use unlawful where you are, or where your audience is

Reporting a Violation

If you believe a video or an actor made with Clipwright depicts you without your consent, or breaks any rule above, write to support@dimantika.com.

Tell us what you can. The more of this you include, the faster it goes:

• A link to the video, or the file itself
• For an actor, its identifier — it begins with actor_u_ — or a video the actor appears in
• Where you encountered it
• Which rule you believe it breaks — and, if it depicts you, enough for us to see that it is you

We reply within 30 days, the same period we commit to for privacy requests. If the report concerns a depiction of you without consent, or a minor, we treat it ahead of the queue.

You do not need a Clipwright account to report anything, and we do not require you to identify yourself beyond what the report needs.

How We Enforce This Policy

What we can actually do is limited, and stating it plainly is more useful than implying more:

• We can revoke your API keys and close your account. This stops future generation. It is our main remedy
• We can delete the files we hold. Generated video lives in our storage for 30 days and is then deleted anyway — see the Privacy Policy
• We cannot retrieve a video you have already downloaded or published. Once a file leaves us, removing it is a matter between you, your audience and the platform you published on
• We can delete an actor from the account that holds it. It stops being usable for new videos at once, and our cleanup then removes its images from our storage. Videos already made with it fall under the two points above

Credits are not refunded when an account is closed for breaking this policy. Where the law requires us to report content — material involving minors in particular — we do so, and closing the account does not replace that.
